April is National Poetry Month. We decided to tie that into this month’s contest. The contest is open to any US based classical guitarist (or guitar lover!) age 18 or under. The poem must be about classical guitar in some way, although the words “classical guitar” need not appear. Judges will choose three winners. 1st place receives $100. 2nd place receives $75. 3rd place receives $50.
Poems can be any length and style. They can be serious or funny. Be creative! Here is haiku from the editor to get things started:
the grand finale
one last forte chord left, but-
can’t hold back a sneeze
Post poems on the fretbuzz facebook wall in their entirety along with the name, age and U.S. city of the entrant.
Only the first 50 entries will qualify for the contest. Entries must be received by May 1, 2014 at midnight. One entry per person. Individuals may win only one fretbuzz contest per calendar year. Austin Classical Guitar acquires the right to the one-time use of winning poems in an article for fretbuzz.org. All other rights return to the author after publication of the article.
